Yuri M. Arsky - Director of one of
the world’s largest information centers - ALL-Russian
Institute of Scientific and Technical Information
Doctor of Geology, Professor at the Moscow State
University, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy
of Sciences, Member of the Expert Council under the
President of Russia.
Graduated from the Geological Faculty of the Moscow State
University in 1959. He has significant experience in
scientific and pedagogic activity, as well as in the
higher bodies of the state power.
Prof. Yuri M. Arsky is the author/co-author of about 300
scientific works on problems of resource development,
estimation of mineral wealth, ecology and information
science. Among them the following works are to be cited: "Environment
between Past and Future: World and Russia"
(monograph, 1994); "Economics and Organization of Rational Utilization of
Nature" (textbook, 1993), "Ecoinformatics"
(1987), "Infosphere" (1996).
Yuri M. Arsky is the Chief Councilor of the Russian
Government in the Joint Working Group on Environment and
Economics of the UN Economic Commission for Europe. Under
his leadership the large-scaled mineral resources
automated information system of CIS-countries has been
developed and installed. He is regarded as a renowned
